Our Passion:
To Increase employment, promote investment,
and encourage economic growth and diversity
 in Middletown Ohio.

The Middletown Economic Development Corporation is a cooperative effort between the City of  Middletown and The Chamber of Commerce.  MEDC was established to attract new business and industry to the city, with the equally important role to support retention and expansion efforts for Middletown's existing businesses.

A new and improved public/private partnership has evolved from the 40-year-old  Middletown Area Development Enterprise Corporation, the result of a 1999 study by a Mid-Miami Valley  Chamber of Commerce task force on economic development.

With over $600,000 in capitalization, the previous organization used these funds for grants and low cost mortgages for new and expanded businesses.  The establishment of the 400 acre M.A.D.E. Industrial Park on Yankee Road, home to 12 industrial operations employing 433 persons, was one of its accomplishments.

The New Middletown Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) includes representatives from the business community and local government.  It will focus on retaining and expanding existing businesses as well as attracting new primary job providers.

"Economic development is a community-wide concern and not just a city concern," says Middletown City Manager Ron Olson.  "It is appropriate that a coalition of community organizations be involved in economic development work.  By having private sector people involved, it is easier to understand business needs.  Also, by having more business interests at the economic development table, we have more opportunity for business contacts outside the city."

By combining its resources with the City of Middletown, there is now a single economic development agency representing the city and the Mid-Miami Valley Chamber of Commerce in attracting new business and supporting retention and expansion efforts for existing business.
